DANILSON RESIGNS FROM NEC TO ASSUME SEF PRESIDENCY
November 7, 2007
In order to
assume the presidency of the Sinfonia Educational Foundation,
Derek Danilson,
Beta Nu (Northern Iowa) ’91, has resigned his position as Committeeman-At-Large on the Fraternity’s National Executive Committee. This action was necessary due to regulations prohibiting current members of the Fraternity’s NEC from serving in officer positions on the SEF Board of Trustees.
Danilson was originally elected for a six-year term as Committeeman-At-Large during the 2003 National Convention. His term was due to end in July 2009. During his 4˝ years on the NEC, Danilson has worked diligently to champion activities that would bring financial stability to the Fraternity and increase alumni engagement.
His presence on the Fraternity's NEC will be missed. National President Richard Crosby commented, "The SEF presidency is definitely the right place for Derek at this time, and we all appreciate his willingness to make such a selfless transition to serve Sinfonia."
On making the decision to leave the NEC in favor of the SEF, Danilson said, “With the finalization of the Fraternity’s five-year strategic plan, I now feel that what I hoped to accomplish on the NEC is firmly entrenched as a part of the Fraternity’s direction for the next several years.”
“There is now another area that needs more attention. Our strategic plan makes it clear that a successful Foundation will benefit the Fraternity, and I will be working to lead that charge,” he added.
The Fraternity’s
National Constitution, Article IV, Section Five, outlines the procedures by which the NEC may elect a replacement to fill the vacancy. The NEC is scheduling a conference call meeting in December to discuss the vacancy.
In the mean time, President Crosby plans to communicate with the Province Governors’ Council and Collegiate Province Representatives’ Council to inquire about their opinions on filling the position for the remaining 18 months of the triennium.
Any questions regarding the vacancy should be directed to National President Richard Crosby at
