CHICAGO AND SIGNATURE SINFONIAN MEMBERS RECOGNIZED IN PRE-CONCERT CEREMONY

On Wednesday, August 26, Daniel Krueger, director of alumni engagement, presented the National Citation to
Chicago in recognition of their accomplished music career. In addition,
Lee Loughnane,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '65 and
James Pankow,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '66 received Signature Sinfonian awards for their individual achievements and accomplishments as part of
Chicago. (
Walt Parazaider,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '64 was not in attendance).
The presentations were held before a concert performance with Earth, Wind & Fire at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Eight Sinfonians attended the presentation and concert.

Loughnane and Pankow were gracious enough to sign a copy of the
Sinfonia Songs songbook with the hopes of getting Parazaider to sign at a later date. The autographed songbook will be made available to be bid on during a future auction by the Sinfonia Educational Foundation.

PHI MU ALPHA TO RECOGNIZE CHICAGO AND SIGNATURE SINFONIAN MEMBERS

On Wednesday, August 26, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will present the rock-jazz fusion band
Chicago with its National Citation in a pre-concert ceremony in Cincinnati, Ohio. The National Citation is given to individuals and groups who have significantly and lastingly contributed to the cause of music in America.
In addition to the National Citation, three individual Sinfonians in the band will be recognized as Signature Sinfonians.
Lee Loughnane,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '65,
James Pankow,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '66, and
Walt Parazaider,
Kappa Phi (DePaul) '64 were inducted as part of the 2009 class of Signature Sinfonians.

Loughnane, Pankow and Parazaider are founding members of Chicago and have been with the band for over 40 years. In that time, the band has sold over 120 million albums worldwide, scoring 22 Gold, 18 Platinum, and 8 Multi-Platinum albums. Over the course of their career, Chicago has charted five No. 1 albums, and have had twenty-one top ten hits.
Chicago will be performing at the Riverbend Music Center with Earth, Wind and Fire in Cincinnati, Ohio. The concert begins at 8:00 ET. If you wish to purchase tickets for this event,

Please contact Dan Krueger, director of alumni engagement, if you are planning on attending this event. At this time, the National Headquarters is working with the band's management to allow a limited number of Sinfonians to attend the award presentation.
Please be aware that there is no guarantee that you will be able to meet the band if you attend.
More information will be posted on this page once it becomes available.
UPDATE (7/31/2009): Management for the band has allowed permission for no more than
15 Sinfonians to attend the presentation of the National Citation and Signature Sinfonian before the concert. Please contact the National Headquarters if you are planning to attend.
