Our chapter held a chili cook-off called "Colon Blow" in the fall. This is an event that helps bring many brothers and other students of music together. This year, we had the opportunity to feature a small jazz combo from our chapter that performed while people ate chili cooked by brothers. This allowed three great things to be connected: food, music, and brotherhood.
Central Methodist University - Beta Mu
In September, Dr. Barbara Hamel was presented with the prestigious Orpheus Award. She was most deserving of the honor and was surprised when the chapter presented her the declaration.
The chapter announced the addition of a new faculty advisor.
Dr. John Porter,
Beta Mu (Central Methodist) ’06, was very enthusiastic asked to counsel the chapter. He even said, "I am lucky to work with a group that provides inspiration and gives me so much personally and professionally."
Coe College - Beta Kappa
Last semester, the chapter decided to donate $250 towards getting a video iPod for the Coe College Music Department. This video iPod will be used as an aide in the classroom, and fulfill a variety of other functions. This semester, the chapter donated $250 towards purchasing a portable digital recorder.
Lindenwood University - Pi Zeta
Our chapter had quite a successful fall semester. We initiated three new members into the brotherhood, raising active membership to an all-time high. We are very happy to have them treading the paths along with us.
On November 18, the chapter celebrated our five-year anniversary by hosting a banquet to honor our founders and alumni. Pi Zeta also received its first Charles E. Lutton Award for receiving the most chapter citations in the last triennium.
Northwest Missouri State University - Upsilon Chi
Our chapter is proud to announce a very successful and educational Smoker during the fall semester of 2006. All Sinfonians, collegiate and alumni, gathered at tables to discuss various activities before we began the meal, and one such discussion taking place was with our Alumni Relations Officer, Matthew Richardson. He reiterated several key learning experiences from his previous experiences and interactions with alumni as shown.
Shenandoah University - Nu Psi
We have had quite a productive semester. We increased our fundraising by over 400% over last year, with activities including concessions sales at recitals, partnership programs with Chick-Fil-A and Coldstone, Valentine’s Day Sing-o-Grams, and participating in a Halloween haunted hay ride. In addition, we have held one of our two annual Mills Music Missions, and sang at a local retirement home over the holidays.
University of Central Florida - Mu Eta
For the past three years, we have had the opportunity to participate in our school’s Homecoming. Last fall, our group, consisting of other sororities and fraternities on campus, won second place over all. We have a great time competing and our chapter has become known as one of the most talented groups on campus.
University of North Texas - Gamma Theta
In the fall, our chapter took on a task of getting more exposure of our great organization. Our big project was building a homecoming float with three other Greek organizations: Alpha Phi Sorority, Brothers Under Christ Fraternity, and Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. We had a band of brother from our chapter riding on the back of the truck bed playing boxing themed music. We won first place in our division, with a prize of $350.
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point - Xi Omicron
Our chapter continued working towards the betterment of mankind through music. Sixteen brothers sang the National Anthem at the homecoming football game. In addition, we made recordings of the school Alma Mater and the National Anthem. We had another successful AMR, in which we performed “Men of Song” with a small instrumental ensemble. We finished up our semester with a Mills Music Mission at the Veteran’s Home in King, WI.
