Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity is pleased to announce that it has become a sponsor of the 2007 National Hazing Prevention Week and National Hazing Symposium. Its sponsorship of these groundbreaking anti-hazing initiatives is made possible by a grant from the Sinfonia Educational Foundation.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is proud to have been a participant in the National Hazing Symposium (NHS) since its inception in 2004. For each of the NHS’s first two years, the Fraternity has sent multiple members of its national staff and volunteer leaders to the event. These staff members and volunteers have learned from experts in the fight against hazing and participated in the dialogue intended to curb the prevalence of this senseless violence.
The 2007 National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) will occur September 24-28, 2007. Throughout its year-long sponsorship, the Fraternity will aid its chapters in preparing to participate in their campus-level NHPW activities. It is the Fraternity’s hope that its chapters on campuses where NHPW is not currently observed will take the lead with their campus administration in organizing activities aimed at eliminating hazing from campus.
The announcement coincides with this year’s National Hazing Prevention Week, September 25-29, 2006. Across the country this week, campuses and organizations are joining forces to expose the dangers of hazing and discuss openly their commitment to eradicate hazing from all organizations.
The National Hazing Prevention Week and National Hazing Symposium are organized by CampuSpeak, a nationwide provider of educational speakers and programs for college campuses and organizations.
