About

Since 1898, Sinfonia has advanced the cause of American music in our country and abroad through a variety of genres. To encourage continued enthusiasm in pursuit of our noble Object, the we issue to chapters the AMERICAN MUSIC CHALLENGE!

The annual American Music Challenge is open to all collegiate chapters and its members. This contest seeks to encourage enthusiastic pursuit of the Fraternity’s commitment to advancing music in America. The three chapters that perform the most American music during the academic school year receive cash prizes totaling $1,800.

We are pleased to announce that the three chapters of our Fraternity that perform the most American music in the 2016 – 2017 school year will receive cash prizes in the amounts of $800, $600, and $400. It is our hope that Sinfonia’s strongest chapters in music will be able to utilize these funds to build upon their successes, and become centers for the promotion of the best in American music on their campuses, in their communities, and in the nation.

To Enter

To take on the challenge, simply save documentation of all American music performed by your chapter or collegiate members of your chapter during the school year, and submit it with the completed and signed entry form to the National Headquarters.

In order to be eligible for this competition a chapter or its members must perform a minimum of ten pieces of American music between September 1, 2016 and May 15, 2017, in addition to those performed on the chapter’s annual American Music Program. Works performed on the American Music Program should also be submitted. The Entry Form must be approved and signed by the Chapter President, Faculty Advisor, and Chair of the Music Department/School to be eligible. Entry Forms must be postmarked to the National Headquarters by May 31, 2017.

We hope that all brothers and chapters will take on this opportunity with enthusiasm, all to advance our noble Sinfonian ideal to voice the music of our land!
