September 19th through the 23rd marks National Hazing Prevention Week and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is proud to participate with and support HazingPrevention.org. This week brings to light the problem of hazing in organizations ranging from athletics to Greek life and even to marching bands. Throughout the week, we will focus on how we can prevent hazing in our lives and in our Fraternity and ask all Sinfonians to incorporate a few items into meetings and discussions.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity marks the start of this event with the annual renewal of the Live Your Oath Campaign. This campaign is a call to action for our members to reflect on our Ideals, our Object and our Oath. When members reflect on these important aspects of the Fraternity, they find that any act of hazing is inconsistent with the lessons learned as members and the promises that we make as Sinfonians.
Throughout National Hazing Prevention Week, we ask our Brothers to make continual efforts to put a stop to hazing on campus and in the community by having meaningful and enriching discussions on what hazing is, how to identify it, and what to do when hazing takes place. By adding our voice to this movement, we encourage all people to help us nurture the universal Brotherhood of man that our Founder envisioned over 115 years ago.
Brothers are encouraged to participate in the Live Your Oath campaign by posting a picture of themselves on social media and writing a short statement on how they plan to uphold the Oath. Brothers can participate by using the hashtags #LiveYourOath and #PhiMuAlpha.
