“Robert Shaw made us sing with one voice, and the world stopped and listened.”

On June 21st, 2019, PBS will feature Brother Robert Shaw as the newest addition to its series, American Masters with Robert Shaw – Man of Many Voices. Shaw was a 1945 initiate of the Alpha Chi Chapter at the University of Tulsa. He had no formal music training nor plans for a career in music. In spite of this, he inspired generations with the power of music and led them to sing with one voice.

Throughout its history, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity has helped create and shape the history of American music. With strong ties into the ever-dynamic fabric of American culture, one thing has remained constant, music’s power to change lives and foster a universal brotherhood of man.

Phi Mu Alpha is honored to have Brother Shaw featured on PBS so that his impact on the world can be documented and shared with generations to come. More information about PBS’s premiere of Robert Shaw – Many of Man Voices will be available later this month.
