With students reporting significantly greater mental health issues as the impacts of COVID-19 continue to wear on, we have seen an increasing need for mental wellness resources for our membership. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia has partnered with EVERFI, to offer our Brothers a chance to participate in the “Back to Better” Project – a tailored version of our new Mental WellBeing course, with resources specific to the impacts of the pandemic and related restrictions.
The goal of this project is to make make a positive impact on student mental health by bringing together colleges, universities, and Greek organizations committed to creating safe and healthy communities at a time when these resources are desperately needed. We are proud to be a leader in the Greek community in this area, as Phi Mu Alpha is the only social fraternity in the country to participate in this program.
The “Back to Better” program is designed to equip students with essential skills and information to navigate the stressors and emotional challenges associated with college life and the impacting factors and concerns related to COVID-19. The course will help Brothers establish healthy self-care habits, to recognize distress, and to take action to find additional support.
While the course is primarily aimed towards first-year students, we have opened it up to all collegiate Sinfonians. The course is not mandatory, but we encourage collegiate Sinfonians to participate. We are offering “Back to Better” as the first step in our developing Mental Well-Being resources for Brothers in Sinfonia.
In the very near future, collegiate Brothers will receive an email inviting them to participate in the project. Part 1 of the course may take 45-60 minutes on average to complete. Part 2 of the course may take 10-15 minutes to complete.
Brothers who complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of the course will be entered into a drawing for one of three $100.00 Sinfonia Store credits,* as our thanks for participating in the program.
We are excited to participate in this project, and we hope that you are too!
