We are excited to return to Chicago, Illinois this December for the upcoming 75th Annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Barring any state or city mandates, the clinic is planned to be held in person from December 15-18, 2021. We are also looking forward to seeing the high number of Brothers who are presenting, performing, exhibiting, and volunteering with the event.
Throughout history, our Brothers have played an integral role in the Midwest Clinic. “Always Something New” was the motto and philosophy of Brother Dr. Albert Austin Harding (Alpha Xi Chapter – 1925). During the 1920s and ’30s, he was the man who set the wheels in motion that led to the eventual establishment of the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in December of 1946. What began as 120 music educators meeting in a YMCA gym in 1946 has grown to a four-day event with over 17,000 attendees, exhibitors, and participants from over 80 countries.
We look forward to seeing those Brothers in attendance during the clinic and encourage all Brothers to stop by the Phi Mu Alpha Booth (#1540) in the exhibit hall.
Lunch with Legends
As part of the 75th Anniversary, the Midwest Clinic is hosting a “Lunch with Legends,” where attendees can purchase a ticket to enjoy a meal with Bill Bitter, Dr. Charlie Menghini (Xi Kappa Chapter – 2000), Dr. David Gregory (Lambda Omega Chapter – 1966), Dr. John Southall (Epsilon Iota Chapter – 1987), Roy Holder (Theta Omicron Chapter – 1968), and June Holder, who all have been named as some of the “greatest living legends” in the music education industry. This event will take place in the Prairie Room on Friday, December 17th from 1:00 – 2:15 PM.
